My non-negotiable in college is to attend class and to be on time.
But did I always stick to this? Honestly, no.
There were classes I attended where anxiety and laziness got the better of me.
One of these is my Law and Obligations class (COBLAW1). I vividly remember the feeling of anxiousness and stress throughout the duration of it, anticipating to be called on for recitation.
Which is a feeling I despise. This feeling made it easier to convince myself to not attend class and instead choosing to stay in the comfort of my bed and scroll on my phone.
But after that term, I’d say I’ve been pretty consistent, and I hope to stay that way for the rest of my college life.
Now let’s go back to the topic of showing up…….
Showing up in every class, whether there are important quizzes to just listening to a boring lecture creates discipline, which you could apply in other aspects of your life.
I have read somewhere in the internet that showing up is 80% of the work done, which I strongly believe in.
Showing up to my classes, informs me of the incoming deadlines, the 4th Hour classes I can attend for additional points, and at least an idea about the topics discussed even if I don’t pay full attention during it. Which significantly can help in passing my classes (most of the time).
You could also apply this in other aspects of your life, like…
Showing up to exercise, even when you feel lazy is an accomplishment itself. Even if you half-ass a workout session, hey, you still exercised!
How short or simple your workout is, doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you moved, you showed up, and you did it for yourself.
Showing up consistently builds a habit, a habit that can benefit you for the rest of your life.
